Bierstadt Mountain is your best peak if want the easiest climb up a fourteener. It's close to Denver and it's only a 3 mile hike from the base of Guanella Pass. You'll climb up roughly 2300 feet, so you can do it in a few hours. It's situated in the Pike National Forest about 12 miles from the Georgetown exit at Interstate 70.
Many people take the hike over to Mount Evans along the Sawtooth ridge which is about 2 miles away.
The name comes from Albert Bierstadt who was a popular Colorado painter during the 19th Century.
I found a quick video that will inspire you to take the hike during your next outing. The panorama is beautiful and Albert Bierstadt would be proud to see the views in this video.
