Every week I look through the best videos on Youtube and I often come across images and information that you can use on your next angling trip. Your friends and family will be impressed with what you learn.
Gold Medal Streams
The Colorado Wildlife Commission designates certain streams and lakes as "gold medal" because these areas offer outstanding angling opportunities for large trout. There are over 9,000 miles of trout streams and only 168 miles are designated as gold.
Here is a list of them:
Animas River- Just north of Durango along Highway 550
Blue River- About 35 miles downstream from the Dillon Dam
Crystal River- From the headwaters to the confluence with Roaring Fork River
Delaney Butte Lakes- North Delaney Butte Lakes has the biggest trout
Fryingpan River- 15 miles from the Ruedi Reservoir Dam to Roaring Fork River
Gunnison River- Downstream to the confluence of North Fork of the Gunnison
North Platte River- Close to the Wyoming border
Rio Grande- Go downstream from South Fork to Del Norte
Roaring Fork River- 12 miles from the confluence with the Crystal River
South Platte River- Several good sections
Spinney Mountain Reservoir
If you do any Colorado fishing and get some big ones, I'd love to see the pictures and I'll profile your story in my newsletter. Check out my Colorado Pictures page for details.
